Halifax Christian Church’s Daily Devotionals
Beginning
Monday March 23, HCC will bring back something we first tried in 2018: brief daily
devotionals. Last time we sent out daily emails; this time we will post them in
a blog which will be linked to other forms of social-media to maximize
the number of ways that we can get these into the hands of You, the Church. Our goal is that you can comment, ask questions, or begin a dialogue with others on the topic of the day.
Why are
we doing this? Because the virus-crisis has created a situation which is
very disorienting and potentially destructive to community; it’s making us stay
apart. But as the elders and pastors are learning to navigate these uncharted
waters, one thing is of paramount importance; the Church will not stop being the Church. It is surely God's will that we remain connected throughout this challenging time. Therefore, we are exploring ways to work-around the restrictions and limitations
imposed on us and if ever there was a time when social-media could be a useful
tool, it is now.
Last
week we held our first live-stream-only worship time on Sunday (if you missed it, click here). Now we add the
next element which is to provide an opportunity for us to keep hearing from God’s Word
through the week. These short devotionals will "stretch the sermon" through the week as we explore further some of the ideas
that come out in the sermons. As always, our ultimate
goal is to make disciples for Jesus who learn to make more disciples for Jesus. Together we will fulfill His commission to us to LOVE GOD, LOVE PEOPLE AND SERVE THE WORLD.
Let's become living sermons by turning our preacher's lessons-taught into lessons-learned ... putting love into action and transforming our homes and community.
See you Monday.
This is a great idea...can't wait to interact with everyone!
ReplyDeleteThanks Deb. Spread the word.
ReplyDeleteWhat a blessing this will be.
ReplyDeleteI also think this is a wonderful idea! I love to see how many of our halifax churches are reaching out with social media and using the technology we have for a very good reason. Keeping the spread of the gospel active during this time of 'rest' is important.
